PDF STUDY NOTEBOOK · iOS & ANDROID

Read it, mark it,
meet it again.

You already highlight. Wellnote's job is not to ask for a new habit — it is to make sure the marks you left come back to you: as a review inbox, as flashcards linked to the source page, as one briefing the night before the exam.

THE STUDY LOOP

Four steps. The last two are the product.

  1. 01EVERY NOTE APP

    Bring it in

Lecture PDFs, handouts, or a phone-camera scan turned into a searchable PDF with OCR.

  2. 02EVERY NOTE APP

    Mark it

Drag to select and the highlight anchors to the actual text — not a freehand stroke over a picture.

  3. 03WELLNOTE'S LAYER

    Meet it again

Every mark lands in a review inbox, and comes back on day 1, 3 and 7 — counted back from your exam date.

  4. 04WELLNOTE'S LAYER

    Remember it

Promote a mark to a flashcard, quiz yourself, and let spaced repetition tighten as the exam closes in.

Importing and marking are what every note app already does. Wellnote is built for the two steps almost nobody finishes — meeting the mark again, and still knowing it on exam day.

WHAT IT DOES

Three tracks, one habit.

Nothing here asks you to log study time, copy text into another app, or maintain a second deck by hand. Each track runs on the marks you already left.

MEET IT AGAIN

The review inbox

Your highlights and written notes collect in one place — per document and across every subject — and a tap jumps straight back to the page they came from.

  • Highlight text with the page and position kept
  • Crops of your handwritten notes, next to the text
  • Pick up where you stopped reading
  • Reminders on day 1 / 3 / 7, counted back from the exam

REMEMBER IT

Cards, quiz, spacing

Turn a mark into a two-sided card without leaving the page. Every card keeps a link to the sentence it came from — so a card you doubt is one tap from the original.

  • Highlight → card: front prompt, back answer, source page
  • Self-quiz: recall first, then reveal
  • Spaced repetition — 1d → 3d → 7d, then wider
  • Register an exam date and the schedule compresses toward it

KEEP GOING

A record you want to keep

Read, mark or review — any one of them counts for the day. The home screen opens on what is due, not on a file list.

  • “Due today: n cards” instead of a folder tree
  • Seven-day strip and a streak that survives one miss
  • Progress and finish rate per document
  • Export a marked-up PDF whenever you want it elsewhere

OPT-IN AI HELPER

An amplifier, not the engine.

Select a sentence — or crop a region of a diagram — and ask. The answer arrives in the language your app is set to, streams as it is written, and can be saved onto the mark as a note, which makes it raw material for your cards.

Plain explanation

The selected text plus one paragraph either side — pitched at your level, with one analogy or example. Not a document dump.

Follow-up questions

One-tap follow-ups, or type your own. The thread stays scoped to the passage you selected, so it cannot wander off the page.

Card drafts

Hand a batch of highlights over and get card drafts back — front, back and source page. You keep the ones that are right.

Pre-exam briefing

As D-day closes in, one page of essentials built from what you marked — which is exactly what a general summary app cannot do.

THE RULES WE BUILT IT UNDER

  1. 1

The key never ships in the app

Requests go to our own worker, which holds the API key and proxies the model. Nothing to extract from the binary.

  2. 2

Only the selection leaves the device

The sentence you picked and its surrounding context — or the region you cropped. Never the whole document, never your file library.

  3. 3

Turn it off and nothing breaks

Reading, marking, review, cards and export are all local. AI is opt-in, has a daily limit, and can be disabled completely.

An AI explanation is a study aid. The original page is the answer key — so every answer keeps a link back to it.

WHY NOT JUST…

You have tried the alternatives.

THE USUAL WAYWHERE IT BREAKS
A chatbot in another tabApp-switching and copy-paste — and it never knows which page you were on
Summary appsThey summarise the whole document, not the three lines you actually marked
Rereading the PDFFeels productive, leaves recall completely untested
A separate flashcard appA second library to maintain, with no way back to the source page
WellnoteYour highlights become review, cards and a briefing — on the page, aware of your exam date

SAFETY & PRIVACY

The original page is the answer key.

Wellnote is built for students, which means minors are in the room. The core loop never needs an account or a server, and the AI layer sends the least it can — the selection and its context, nothing more. Inputs sent to the model provider are not used to train models, and AI can be switched off entirely in settings.

STUDY TOGETHER

Hand a marked-up PDF to a friend.

The transfer stack Wellnote grew out of now carries study material. Send the annotated PDF, and your highlights travel beside it — so the same lines are already lit up when it opens on their phone.

  • One link — they open it in a browser, no install and no account
  • Highlights ride along with the file and land as highlights
  • Or send phone → computer: a browser tab, or a drive in Finder

Receiving is always free

PRICING

Studying is free. The AI has a daily limit.

Reading, marking, the review inbox, cards, quizzes and PDF export are free and stay free — a study app that meters your studying is not a study app. The AI allowance is what Pro raises, because that is the part with a real per-question cost.
